Groveland Cemetery is one of the older burial grounds in town, having been established in 1699, and grave markers for various wars are fairly common throughout the site. The GAR and Revolutionary War markers are numerous. This is the first time I recall having noticed a Real Daughter marker, however.
A “real daughter” is a woman whose father fought in the American Revolution and who herself was a member of the organization Daughters of the American Revolution. (I highly recommend visting the link to read more about the DAR’s history; there was quite a bit I didn’t know about them!)
