… for the call of the running tide
Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied;
And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying,
And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

Today is Theme Day in the City Daily Photo community, and the theme for March 1st is “Your Favorite Part of Town.”
This picture is of Humarock Beach, taken a couple of weeks ago when it was bitterly cold – but really, this could be any beach in Scituate, or any place where the sea meets the land or the cliffs or the sea wall. My favorite part of town is any place where the salt water soaks into the sand.
All across the world, other City Daily Photo bloggers are posting photos of their favorite part of town – click here to view thumbnails for all participants.

fabulous photo, fabulous poem!
i love that… where the salt soaks the sand. me too 🙂 florida is so far from scituate… but as long as i have the beach within 30 minutes, my heart feels a-ok. i’m not sure i appreciated the beach as much when i was growing up… summers too full of ice cream, i suppose!
Very nice. Actually, quite similar to some of the beaches in my little part of the world.
@ Sheila – that poem has always been a sentimental favorite of mine… 🙂
@Dawn – I know what you mean! I tried living away from the ocean and couldn’t do it. Just couldn’t do it! I have many happy memoirs of spending hours at the beach as a child, exploring tidal pools and racing waves, and it is such a source of joy to me that my own daughter can have the same experiences growing up…
@Michael – thank you! Many Irish immigrants felt the same and thus settled in this area, making us the most Irish town in America! 🙂
Excellent! I agree…I have to live near the water. Nice shot.
