Sir, I Stand Relieved

Here lies Caesar, a Coast Guard dog. He and another dog named Sam rest in a lovely shaded spot behind the Stellwagen Bank National Marine Sanctuary headquarters on First Cliff. From 1936 to 1999 the Coast Guard maintained a station at this spot, but the unit was downsized and moved into a small building in Scituate Harbor. The SBNMS has found an ideal home in this location – and clearly keeps watch over Caesar and Sam, as their graves are well cared for and maintained.
