The commuter rail train idles at Greenbush station, end of the line, waiting to make an afternoon run into Boston. Commuters coming home tonight will emerge into a sloppy mix of snow and sleet – everyone’s favorite winter treat, sneet.
I picked a good week to take a break and hunker down, because last week was brutally cold. My goal was to paint three rooms – and I got two done, which is two more than were painted before so I guess I came out ahead! A new desk and a bright new color to chase away the winter blues, and hey, we are back on track…
Today it is snowing and on Wednesday it will be in the fifties. I know we in New England like to say, “If you don’t like the weather, give it a minute and it’ll change” – but this is getting ridiculous!

You’re back! Greenbush? Wow. I have been away from Boston for a long time. I would have made a big bet that there is no such station.
I’m back!
Yes, you can now take a train from Greenbush into South Station. The revival of the Old Colony Line was controversial for may on its path… but I have to tell you, I think it’s a wonderful addition to the (scant) transportation options in the area.
