Scituate after the storm.

saturday

This was the scene out my back door on Saturday morning. We got 22″ as measured on my front walk. Trees and wires are down all over town and many coastal areas were hit very, very hard. It is not safe to drive around many parts of town. W

We have no power or heat. As of this writing, 100% of the town is without power, the shelter at the hgh school is maxed out and it is really cold. The lines at the gas stations all over the South Shore are very long – if the gas station still has fuel. Many roads are not safe to drive on – lots of trees and wires down, and they are still trying to get everyone plowed out.

I personally wasn’t able to get out of the house until this morning, when our street had been plowed and we shoveled the driveway. We’ve escaped to my husband’s office in the city for hot meals and to get cleaned up, and then we will regroup. It was 43 degrees in my house when we woke up this morning, which is not a lot of fun. I’m worried about my daughter, my cats and my cold-air-induced asthma.

I am active on Twitter, user name @ScituateQDPhoto, and will post pictures on there as I able. Give me a shout! Trying to get things onto the website is my lowest priority right now. We are hopeful that we will have power & heat by Tuesday night.

A huge shout out to the first responders, the shelter workers and everyone who is working so very hard to get things back to normal in Scituate. If you are local and have power, please consider reaching out to those who do not! Check on your neighbors, especially the elderly and those with young children. Stay safe and stay warm. I will post again when I am able.

  1. That is a lot of snow. I will check out your twitter photos.

  2. Hope you get power back soon! You are a real trooper just to get this posted.

  3. I’m glad your safe and getting warm… all things considered, it appears you and your family fared well. Daily Photo will be here when you can get back to normalcy. Until then please stay safe.

  4. I wondered if you were going to be up and running. The South Shore and Cape Cod seemed to be the epicenter of the winds. Portland got more snow, but you guys got the most wind. Good luck in managing your way through this. I hope the power gets back before the cold does damage to your house.
