The blizzard hit two weeks ago. A lot of the snow has melted and the messes have been tidied – but we’ll be seeing the marks of that storm for a long time to come. We lost many trees; they were ripped clean out of the ground by their roots, or snapped well down towards the bases of their trunks under the onslaught of the terrible winds.
Union Cemetery will not look the same after all is said and done. A number of the wonderful old cedar trees fell, in some cases knocking tombstones and monuments loose from the ground.
I’ve decided to give myself a little challenge – so Scituate Daily Photo will be monochromatic until March 20th, when we can welcome spring and color back into our lives.

My goodness. Sad to see so many trees fell during the storm. Hopefully, the cemetery grounds crew will be able to get everything in order soon.
There are so many trees and branches down, and more are being uncovered as the snow melts – cleanup is going to go well into the spring. Good for those who need the work, but more than a little sad to realize how much some landscapes are going to be changed come spring.
Yes, the South Shore got clobbered. Nature’s pruning.
