The Quarterdeck is a well known and much loved landmark in Scituate Harbor… and she’s getting a new upper deck, so to speak.
The Quarterdeck has been sold to a marina owner – so it’s getting a spiffy new upgrade, long overdue structurally speaking. The second floor will be bigger, with dormers. No worries, those who are weeping for their memories – the shop’s staying on the first floor!
I do have more photographs and will add a link to them here when I’ve had a chance to process them for the web, later this evening. 🙂
Edited to add: Additional photographs may be found on my Flickr stream…

wow- i just cannot even imagine!!! glad the little shop is staying… and what a view from the new upper deck! but… one more change.
Unfortunately, the building was in dire need of repair – so better this than it gets demolished in a storm or torn down because it’s too far gone. But so much has changed in the harbor it’s a shame…
It must be a challenge building something like this in the middle of the current series of winter storms.
I think they’re taking advantage of the current lull in storm systems – though, brother, is it ever cold down there on the waterfront!!
