This replica of the lantern room of Minots Light stands on Government Island in Cohasset. The blocks come from the lighthouse itself, collected during a 1987 renovation of the tower; the Fresnel lens was Minot’s beacon from 1964 to 1971.
In 1971, Minots Light was automated with a solar-powered light. It still shines its storied 1-4-3, or “I love you” signal, though no keepers in the tower send this message to their loved ones on shore.
