Ah, spring. Bees are buzzing, blossoms are blooming and babies are showing up all over the place. Everyone’s twitterpated in one way or another.
This raccoon and its compatriot launched into a very loud and lengthy discussion at 5:00 AM in the very top branches of a tree outside my in-laws’ house. Their relationship from a genealogical perspective was unclear – were they siblings, parent and child, rivals or lovers? But regardless of the kinship, the state of their affair was very clear – it was loud, ugly and undignified, with lots of teeth.
Oh, little raccoon, we’ve all been there – and like you (hopefully!) we’ve realized that the best solution is to stop hanging out in trees shrieking, because it gets you nowhere. Find solid ground and run for cover – and better luck next time!
We had a robin conflagration in front of my house just yesterday. I couldn’t figure out if it was two males arguing over a lady friend, or a love relationship gone sour, or perhaps it was foreplay! All I can tell you is it was loud. Ahhh, spring!
What a great shot! Love the composition. Hope you weren’t too close, though. As I recall, most raccoons which are up and about during the daylight hours are confused due to rabies.
The wildlife is just busting out all over! Shortly before finding these deer, I had a close encounter with a turkey who suddenly appeared by the side of the road as I was driving. Yikes!
And no worries, SRQ – I was zooming in with my lens so I wasn’t as close as it appears. Also, this was early morning and these guys were caught out after curfew, no sign of sickness, just spring-related hijinks!
