Train to nowhere

I hope no one’s planning to take the commuter rail into town on the weekend for the next year or so! But hey, look on the bright side – at least these weekend trains will adhere to a predictable schedule, which is more than can be said for most other trips on the MBTA!

Recently the Boston Globe asked its readers for slogan suggestions for the MBTA – and, well, read them and I think you’ll get the general idea.

  1. The commuter rail is popular on weekends for families heading into town to visit the aquarium, shops, restaurants, etc. The train adds an added “fun factor.” What’s really sad is you know that the MBTA is paying boatloads extra to workers for weekend maintenance. Money they don’t have.

  2. It’s also pretty discouraging that the concrete ties are failing already – the entire line is not that old! As it the Big Dig debacle wasn’t discouraging enough…
