Out with the old, in with the new

Remember the storm on December 26th? The one that pummeled Scituate, ripped holes in the seawall, caused fires and flooding? Well, the damage is still being repaired over six months later.

The storage shed at Scituate Light took a serious beating in that storm and is now being replaced. Lighthouse Keeper Bob Gallagher posted about this construction on the Scituate Light’s blog, and I wandered down to take a look for myself.

It’s a little odd to see a whole section of the building gone.

  1. I remember seeing this on the news when it happened and being amazed at the extent of the damage. For those of us who aren’t there, when the news stops covering it, it easily slips to the back of our minds. It looks like they are making some progress. I hope things return to normal soon!
