Today is the first day of the month – or Theme Day for City Daily Photo blogs around the world! The theme for October 2011 is “Mystery Object.”

So… who can tell me what and where this is – and what’s going on in this artistic depiction?

If you’d like to see how other City Daily Photo bloggers are interpreting this month’s theme, click here to view thumbnails for all participants – and enjoy. 🙂

  1. I don’t know where it is — maybe Mystic? — but I am guessing that it has something to do with the Amistead trial.

  2. Amistead came to my mind as well . . . is that Scituate Light? You’ll have to shed some more light on this mystery for me, Ali.

  3. It’s part of the sculpture in front of Town Hall – depicts Chief Justice William Cushing freeing the slaves in Massachusetts.

  4. Congratulations to the anonymous commenter who correctly identified the mystery object and its location, and explained one of the scenes depicted!

  5. I could see the scales of justice and the slave. What is the women in the field to represent?
