You know you live in a coastal community when you get emails from the school system with the subject line, “Bus Stop High Tide Alert” and the friendly reminder, “Please be aware of the tides. If any of the AM or PM tides cause streets in your neighborhood to be impassable, students will be picked up and/or dropped off at the nearest clear bus stop.” They even have a list of the bus stops that are likely to be impacted, and the alternate clear stop for each location. Handy.
Oh, and when the sign in the parking lot says:
it’s not referring to a once-in-a-blue-moon kind of high tide, either.
For those who are dismayed by today’s gloomy rains – it could be worse. Some areas of Massachusetts will see snow tonight, or that dreaded, nasty “wintry mix.”

Wintry mix is the worst!

Oh, I loathe the wintry mix. It’s nasty stuff, gets you coming and going.
Yeah, I can deal with high tides! Not the wintry mix though. We ended up with rain, mostly.
