We had absolutely gorgeous weather for this year’s St. Patrick’s Day parade in Scituate! I marched with the Scituate Animal Shelter again this year and we had a wonderful group of volunteers and dogs, many of whom are shelter alumni.
These Irish Wolfhounds attracted a lot of attention along the parade route. While we were stopped and they decided to take a rest, this young man wandered up and I think the expression on his face says it all…!
For some great views of the parade, check out Kjeld Mahoney Photography’s timelapse video , Danielle’s photos over on Silver Pennies and the photo gallery on Boston.com!

Was so hoping for lots of parade pics for all the townies that couldn’t make it 🙁
My goodness…that is a big hound! I wonder how much he weighs?
I didn’t think to ask – I just know he is bigger than me by far! Those enormous limbs splayed out on the pavement just floored me.
Hi! Those are my dogs! I’m so excited that they made this blog! The guy that is laying down is Andy or “Andy Cakes” as he’s known around our house. He is just undetermined 190 lbs. His brother Brady is 7 or 8 pounds less. You can see the back half of my uncle’s female. Her name us Bridie. She is a peanut but wolfhound standards. She is about 130. They are such sweet, loving animals!
Sheila, thank you so much for sharing your dogs with the parade!! They are beautiful and sweet, among the best-behaved dogs I have ever met. 🙂
I typed my last comment from my phone. I’m so sorry for the “Auto Correct” mistakes. It was such a pleasure to be in the parade. Plus, the Scituate Animal Shelter does such amazing work. Anything that we can do to help them, we are on board!
Thank you for such kind words! I know I’m biased, but I think Irish Wolfhounds are amazing! The love EVERYONE. In their big, brown eyes, every stranger is just a friend that they haven’t been introduced to yet!
PS: Your blog is BEAUTIFUL! You have such an eye for photography!
