I knew f I hung around the edge of the pond with the ducks long enough that the resident royal would come over to investigate.
Swans are a familiar sight around this neck of the woods; nesting pairs tend to return to the same spots year after year. A word to the wise – admire from a safe distance, because they can get very territorial if they feel their nest is being threatened, and those beautiful white wings can pack quite a wallop!

Lovely! It sounds as if the warning is from experience. We’ve had domestic geese get nasty. . .their weapon of choice is a hard beak peck.
Ha! No, not personal experience – though I did once see an angry swan chase away an intruder from his pond!!
What a nice scene! I feel like I’m peeking in watching them.
I picked up a new 35mm prime lens, so I’ve been having to get in close on a lot of scenes… I’m going to need to swing back out there with my zoom. 🙂
Sings of spring are everywhere, even though the weather has been unseasonably warm there for you… excellent advice, too!
WE are on a temperature rollercoaster, Peg – I’d like it to just be spring already!
