I love this house on Egypt Beach; raised on stilts, from a certain angle it looks like it’s setting sail on a grassy sea…

What a lovely home! Is it just a summer place or do folks live there all year round?
Someone is there on a regular basis, Peg. I’m of a mixed mind on these houses… I’d love the view and the location, but I’d worry for my home every time it storms and I’d be driven crazy by beach goers setting up at all hours underneath my back porch!
beautiful houses filled with people who think that if they own a home with a view, they own the view. too much stress makes these home owners insufferable which makes me wonder whether they are ever happy there. it also makes me wonder if i owned one of these houses, would the stress of trying to wrangle my little spot in the world turn me into an insufferable homeowner myself? when i win the lotto and buy a house on egypt beach i’ll let you know! 🙂
I don’t think that’s an entirely fair assessment, Anonymous. Certainly there are homeowners who are pills – no matter where they live. However, I’ve also seen beachgoers who are disrespectful of private homes, leaving their trash, wandering onto back decks and so on. It’s a fine line, and it cuts both ways.
Beautiful home, gorgeous setting. Aside from beach goers, as much as I love the water I’d worry about that erosion eating away my distance to the surf. All this home needs is pontoons and an anchor.
I’m happy being a safe distance from the water myself! I think we each choose for ourselves what we can bear in proportion to what we desire. 😉
