The last thing the squirrel sees.

Or, “Why My Cats Are Indoor Cats.”

We have a number of red-tailed hawks in our neighborhood and often see them riding the wind currents, seemingly effortless and almost lazy as they turn and bank and glide.

Shortly after we moved into this house, our calico was sitting in the upstairs window watching the birds on our lawn. I leaned over her shoulder to look – and at that moment a hawk dove past our window and grabbed something on the ground below.

It was an hour before I saw the cat again. She felt much safer under the sofa after seeing the hunter outside.

  1. So much safer for a cat indoors Ali, we have the hawks too, unfortunately there’s nothing I can do about them swooping on the doves. It’s tough out there!

    • Between the hawks, the owls, the coyotes, the fisher cats and the foxes I can’t believe anyone lets their cats outside!
