There’s no denying that this has been an unusual year, weather-wise. A winter so mild that I’m not sure we ever even shoveled snow from our front walk – and I know for certain I never wore my heaviest winter coat – and now we have been launched into the 80s and my beach hats are fighting my winter gloves and scarves for shelf space in the front hall closet.
The beaches were packed yesterday – and I do mean packed. There was no parking to be had at Minot and the lot was near full at Egypt Beach. April vacation is feeling more like summer!

They were packed. I’ve never seen Minot so busy.
I think the combination of the really nice weather, April vacation and Patriot’s Day brought everyone out. I heard that Nantasket Beach was gridlocked with beachgoers!
For your sake I hope this doesn’t mean a sizzling hot summer! We just went to Phoenix where it barely cracked 80 degrees, though it started getting warmer as we left. And in the Pacific Northwest we’re still waiting for winter to call it a day! Crazy!
I’m quite worried about this summer – and with so little precipitation, everything is very dry…
Nice capture. Love the bokeh. Nothing says ‘beach’ like sand buckets and rolling waves.
Thank you! I am all about the wide open shooting right now…
Love this image Ali, but you’re right it does look a lot like summer.
It *felt* like summer – a hot day on the beach! The water hasn’t warmed up nearly enough but nevertheless a bunch of kids were braving it…
