We spend a wonderful morning at Dalby Farm for their Spring Hatch celebration!
These chicks are nine days old and enjoying their time in this warm little home while they grow. Some of these little babies are turkens. Other of these chicks start off yellow but will turn white as they age. The light keeps them warm while they grow. (Thanks to my little note-taker for that information!)
Dalby Farm is amazing place! They are dedicated to raising rare breed farm animals and have tours, summer camp and other educational programs. Dalby Farm has been in the same family for generations and is a satellite farm for Plimoth Planation. Be sure to check out their country store! Local folks can even buy eggs from them, yum yum!

Nice to think of them having some cosy warm time before they go out into the big cold world Ali.
Our tour guide also said that they need to keep the chicks separated from the bigger birds for their safety – apparently the flock is not entirely kind to its smaller members!
