The third annual Touch a Truck event was held today on the grounds of First Parish Unitarian church. This great fundraiser benefits Luca’s Light, a foundation established in memory of a young Scituate boy who lost his battle with cancer at the age of 3.
Luca’s Light helps families at a time when they are most vulnerable, while caring for a child with cancer.
There are trucks and vehicles of every size and shape and function. I am not as fluent in trucks as I am in Star Wars, because we learn the language of our children’s delights, but there were cement mixers and digging things and buses and fire engines and some sort of crane. (I know, I’m hopeless. But I know the difference between a landspeeder and a pod-racer and an x-wing. If there’s ever a Touch-A-Star-Wars-Vehicle event, I’ll be much more useful as tour guide!)
Buses are much more attractive when they’re not taking you to school, I’m told.
No matter the age or the inclination, kids were delighted to be at this event. It’s a lovely fundraiser – be sure to get there next year!

Sometimes the simplest fundraisers are the most effective, who doesn’t love to get up close and personal with a nice shiny truck!! I hope they made heaps of money Ali.
Sometimes I think I may give the wrong impression of our beaches, I guess the sharks are out there all the time but they very rarely come in close, and in summer when the beaches are packed, the surf patrol helicopters are continually patrolling, but for me it’s too much if there’s even the slightest chance haha!
