This photograph was taken on January 11, 2012. An eiderdown covering snow had fallen in the darkness of the night and was trickling away in the warmth of the rising sun. Everything was muffled and hushed and glistening. It was lovely.
I dipped into my archives for today’s photo in order to satisfy the demands of both Monochrome Monday and Theme Day. Yes, today is the first day of the month and in the global City Daily Photo community that means it’s Theme Day – and in October 2012 that means silhouettes.
Please, take a peek at other City Daily Photo blogs and their interpretations of today’s theme. Many thanks to Julie of Sydney Eye for single-handedly keeping the monthly theme going when the CDP portal crashed.

I was wondering what you would pick when i saw your comment earlier Ali..this is a super choice, could you not add reflections into the mix, the perfect three.
It certainly looks serene…. and monochrome catches it best, I guess…. Very nice!
I like the reflection as well as the silhouette. Good choice for monochrome as well. 🙂
Doing it in monochrome is just perfect.
Some of my favorite pictures I took all year long are from that morning. 🙂
It looks so peaceful!
Shots like this are so evocative and have such staying power in your mind. They catch that perfect moment. It’s a great B&W shot and a good post for Theme Day.
