Make way for Sandy

Ali Crehan Photography: Scituate Daily Photo 2012 &emdash; Batten down the hatches

There’s a lot of excitement among the weather watchers about a lady named Sandy, whom some have nicknamed Frankenstorm. The news crews are already descending – let’s hope it’s all for nothing and Sandy turns out to be a creampuff.

A lot of boats and piers are pulled at about this time of year anyway, though some are calling an end to the season a couple of weeks early to be on the safe side. The big yellow crane and its attendant crew was hard at work this afternoon and the harbor was bustling with activity. Batten down hose hatches and stow your gear, folks, and make way for Sandy.

  1. Fingers crossed it isn’t too bad. My 3 yr old was mesmerized by the crane yesterday. x

  2. I’m sure we’ll get some of the rain up here in Toronto. Hope it doesn’t turn out as bad as everyone is saying though.

  3. It sounds like the winds are the major source of concern for us, rather than the high tides… I hope it’s all just hype. I have a turkey in the freezer for next weekend’s Faux Thanksgiving and I’m going to be annoyed if we lose power and I lose the turkey!!
