I was walking across a bridge by the harbor this afternoon when I spotted this brown hat floating forlornly at the water’s edge. Did it blow off someone’s head during Sandy? Was it dropped on a beach on an early morning walk? It looks like a nice, comfortable hat. Someone’s head must be missing it.
Today is the first day of the month and in the worldwide City Daily Photo community that means Theme Day! The theme for November 2012 is “Water’s Edge.” Click on this link to view interpretations on this theme around the world!

Great photo and title. Hope you had a wonderful Halloween yesterday. x
So, is a brown hat flotsam or is it jetsam? Another mystery that a trip to Google city can answer.
Hats off to you, Ali – good one for the theme. Also good to see and hear from you that Scituate escaped the worst of Sandy.
Great series on superstorm Sandy. I’m glad all is well in your neck of the coast.
Haha! I hope the gentleman has other cover for his head.
@Jack: Intriguing question. If the man threw it into the water, it would be jetsam, but flotsam if it got blown off! (At least, that’s my definition!!)
Wonderful shot! Hats have such minds of their own, and occasionally they lose all loyalty to the one they’re covering. Yet, they’re lost without it.
love it!
Love your choice for the theme day. Thank you for sharing it with us all.
Have a great month!
it looks like a nice hat – but it is probably best not to scramble down and retrieve it!
Well I think you made a super choice in selecting this photo for CDP Theme Day. Thank you for sweet comment re my swan. Kind of you.
Off the top of my head (!) Ali, I’d say it was definitely a ‘strong wind’ situation, brilliant take on the theme.
