As the year winds to a close, I am going through all of the photos of 2012 and picking out candidates for the Photograph of the Year.
“The Last Day of Winter” was taken at Minot Beach on March 19th. It was an uncommonly warm day and my daughter decided to go hunting for hermit crabs and pretend it was summer. Will this winter be as mild as last year’s?

I really like this one Ali, just the whole idea of ‘one last time’ before winter sets in..the ripples and reflections are perfect and b&w is such a good choice..I hope your family and yourself had the best Christmas.
Actually, Grace, we’re flipped up here – and normally March is a frigid and snowy time! To walk on the beach without jackets and to see my daughter wading into the water was quite something. She was very eager for the season to turn to spring, and it obliged her a little early!
