Well, all the meteorological types seem to be taking the approaching storm quite seriously. Even my favorites (who are not prone to hysteria or unduly influenced by flashy graphics and cutesy buzzwords like “snowpocalypse”) are using stern, serious language about it all.

So… let’s all be smart and safe, shall we?

TOWN OF SCITUATE STORM ADVISORY #1

This is a very serious storm. Residents are advised to use common sense and caution. Stay safe and off the roadways. Travel and access to coastal areas will be restricted to emergency personnel only. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED.

Power outages are expected to be long in duration as powerful winds and excessive flooding will prevent restoration to wires. National Grid is at a Level 5, its highest alert and power outages are expected to last a minimum of 72 hours. Beware of downed wires and expect that they are live. Individuals that have homes that rely on electricity for heat and leave should keep water running to preserve pipes.
