Inching back to normal….

Scituate Harbormaster's Building

It’s good to be back.

I am among the lucky, because I got electricity and heat back on Sunday night. (Just in the nick of time, too, because it was 43 degrees in my house.) My phone and internet were restored this afternoon.

But 48% of the town of Scituate is still without power – and for many of them that means no heat.

Without further ado, here are some cellphone photos that I grabbed Monday:

Some news articles to give you a little perspective:

Sorry, I know this isn’t my most eloquent or even coherent post – but it’s been a long few days. As I was uploading these pictures, I found it hard to believe that they’re only from yesterday morning – it seems like a days and days ago.

Not sure if I’ll have a post tomorrow – school is still out and I am reluctant to go to places like Cedar Point and Humarock with a child in tow.

Be safe, be well, be warm, folks.

  1. These shots bring back memories of 1978. I still lived there then, tho not on Cedar Point or along Sandhills …My heart aches for the entire town and having to endure devastation like this again. I wish a speedy recovery to all and hope the power is restored soon.

  2. I like the ice machines and the Coast Guard station. Brrrr..

  3. OMG Ali, I’m never going to complain about the heat again.. How dreadful this storm has been.. So glad you have power back but can imagine how hard it s for those who don’t..Maybe you should stay close to home until this get a little bit more settled.

  4. What a mess, huh? The coast seems to be getting the brunt of the stormageddons lately. I was fortunate that I did not lose my power this time. Having to deal with that on top of the rest is the pits. Glad you’re back up and running. May the weather remain reasonable for the forseeable future.

  5. Oh, Ali! What at time you – and your community – have/has had! These photos tell quite a story. I’m glad you have power again. I hope that’s the case for everyone. . .and soon!

  6. Thanks all. It’s getting better. But we are all exhausted and our nerves are frayed.

  7. Great documentary!
Gosh I can nearly feel the COLD.
